+ How can I book?

Please fill out our online pre-booking form. This form in no way constitutes a formal booking but helps us to obtain and give you all the necessary information for your surfing holiday in Areia Branca. Alternatively you can always email us with your specific query.

+ How do I pay?

In order to confirm your booking and services contracted you agree to pay a deposit (a percentage of the total value of your booking). The remaining balance is to be paid locally upon arrival to the surf camp. Please read our booking terms and conditions.

+ How many days in advance do I need to book?

You can book at any time but best to secure your place well in advance since we do get full, especially in peak seasons.

+ Do I need to arrive on Sunday and leave on Sunday?

No, you can arrive and depart any day of the week and stay for as long as you want!

+ Can I take a surf camp package and my companion accommodation only or a different package?


+ Can I change the dates after I book?

Yes, if there's availability for the new dates and when advised at least 2 weeks before due arrival date.

+ Do I get my money back, in case of cancellation?

Please check our booking terms and conditions.

+ Can I get a discount?

We do have discounts available for longer durations. The more surfing you do the cheaper it gets!
Also, if you are a regular costumer or a big group we can talk about it .o)

+ Are flights included in your price?

None of our packages include plane tickets.

+ What choice of accommodation do I have?

There are plenty of accommodation options in Areia Branca, for solo travellers, couples, friends, groups and families! Shared rooms, private rooms, private studios, private apartments and beach bungalows.

+ How many people are in each room?

There are different types of rooms in Areia Branca: single, twin/double, triple and quadruple.

+ Do I need to bring a sleeping bag?

Only if you wish... you don't need to. We provide covers, sheets, pillows, towels, etc.

+ If I'm staying in Areia Branca...
  • Where is the nearest internet access point?
    In your accommodation! Most of the accommodation in Areia Branca has free Wi-Fi in your room as well as common areas.
  • How far are the closest supermarkets, restaurants and bars?
    All the accommodation options in Areia Branca are within easy walking distance to supermarkets, restaurants, bars and snack bars.
  • Where is the nearest hospital?
    In Torres Vedras, 25 km to the south (30 minutes drive away).
  • How far is the closest beach?
    Depending on where you will be sleeping in Areia Branca, you'll be between 50 and 300 meters from the beach!
+ Is all surf equipment included?

Yes, all surf equipment is included if you book surf school or a surf camp pack.

+ What nationalities do you have the most?

Most of our guests are European citizens but we're happy to say that we have costumers from all around the world. We are an international surf company so we have guests of different nationalities who give a very good vibe in the surf house & hostels and in the surf school (surf, chill out, dinners, drinks, sleep, repeat,…).

+ Are you open all year round?

We are open all year round. Surf school only closes on Christmas day and New Year's Eve.

+ What kind of activities do you provide?

We are experts in surf for all levels. However, we can help or organize many different activities so you can make the most of your holidays in Areia Branca. Such activities include massages, yoga, etc. Please read more about what to do in Areia Branca at the extra activities page.

+ Are your courses for beginners and people who never surfed before?

The surf camp in Areia Branca provides beginner and intermediate surf courses for those who have never surfed before and for those who have already gone through some surf courses before but want to continue to improve their skills and surf different surf spots in Peniche area.
Areia Branca is the perfect place to learn how to surf or just enjoy surfing.

+ But I have done a beginner course before!

No worries. You can join our level 2 group. Our instructors will evaluate your skills and help you with all you need to improve your surf level and skills.

+ Do you have surf lessons every day?

Yes, including Saturday and Sunday.

+ Is there a minimum number of people for the surf classes?

No, classes are held no matter how many students but the maximum ratio of students per instructor is of 8.

+ How many hours per day can I expect to stay in the water?

Around 4 hours per day, the rest is up to you ,o)

+ Do you provide private surf lessons?
+ What language do the instructors/guides speak?
They all speak English and Portuguese. Some also speak Spanish.
+ Is there a minimum age requirement to join group classes? Do parents have to be present?

Small children over 6 years old can join school but parents have to commit to keep an eye on them. Kids can get tired very soon and our instructors cannot keep an eye both on the children and the ones in the water.

+ Do I have to know how to swim?

Yes, all clients have to know how to swim. It's important that you have good body resistance, absence of serious respiratory, pulmonary and cardiac illnesses and swimming ability - at least 25 meters crawl.

+ Which is the nearest airport?

The closest airport to our surf camp is Lisbon Airport.

+ How do I get to the surf camp?
  • Direct transfers:
    Direct airport transfers are available for an extra fee. Prices start at 75 EUR each way but depend on the number of persons and time of arrival/departure.
  • Rent-a-car at Lisbon airport:
    Areia Branca is located in the centre of Portugal (80 km north of Lisbon) so it’s the perfect location to visit many places on an afternoon drive. Renting a car will allow you to a bit more freedom to explore the beautiful coast and villages around Peniche.
    Commuting by car should take you up to 1 hour and we can give you driving directions.
    You can pick it up upon arrival at Lisbon airport and return it there also.
    We can check availability and pre-book the car for your but contract and payment are made directly with the rent a car company. You have to be over 21 and have a valid driver’s licence for over 2 years, also you'll need a credit card or cash as deposit.

  • Bus:
    You can catch a direct buses to Areia Branca from the main bus terminal in Lisbon. The bus trip to Areia Branca takes around 1h15m so the whole trip should take you around 2h door to door (Airport – Areia Branca).
+ How is the weather?

Welcome to sunny Portugal!!! Portugal is the country with the most sunny days per year in Europe.
Winter or Fall you get average 20 sunny days per month. It does get cold in the winter and the sea temperature is cold in the Peniche area. Areia Branca is facing the Atlantic and a cold current passes straight by.
Don't worry, you do get away with a 4/5 wetsuit in the winter and shorties in the summer.

+ How are the waves?

We will take you to different spots according to your level of surf so you can expect different kinds of spots and waves as you improve your skills. Spots are chosen to make sure you have a good time and improve your skill in maximum security.

+ Can you tell me the nearest surf spots?

The closest surf spot is the local beach!
When there are no waves in Areia Branca classes can be held at different surf spots within a range of 20 km from the surf school (15 minutes by car), in which case participants are transported to the different surf spots.

+ What is the best season of the year to catch good waves?

Although there are waves all year long, if you are an experienced surfer, the best season for a surf trip in Portugal is from September to May.
If you are a novice join our surf camp and we will take you to the best surf spots according to your level. It's important to pick the surf spot carefully as some of the waves are unforgiving.

+ Are there any problems with the local surfers?

If you follow the basic rules concerning the respect for the locals you won´t have any problems.

+ Are there any rips at your local surf spots?

Every spot has some rips, the sand banks are always changing thus making the rips. But don't worry, you will surf at the safest spots and always under supervision!

+ Money | Credit cards

The majority of the stores accept credit cards such as Visa and Master card but it is always useful to have cash in hand. Many small commerce accepts cash only but you can withdraw at the local ATM's.
